Default Radiator mounting

I bought the basic aluminum radiator from Speedway and used mounting brackets to mount it to the frame. I then used rods from the windshield/body to two brackets on the top of the radiator. Well, after about 300 miles and a lot of body twisting the bracket at the top connected to the windshield rod broke.
I do not have a radiator shell, just the radiator.
Do I need to have a shell to give me the support needed and not deal with the body twisting?
See www.bobspaddywagon.net to see how it is mounted.

If you don't need the supports for the windshield, I would mount the rods to the firewall. There would be a lot less twisting at a lower point.
If it ain't chopped, it ain't mine..
